Success! On Friday, August 10, 2007 and in front of 62,666 Vikings' fans, the Minnesota Vikings kicked off their 2007 season by playing Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song." The song first played before the game as the team ran out onto the field and again as the Viking's kicked off at the beginning of the third quarter. Skol Vikings!

Dear, Mr. Wilf,
My name is Andrew Saur and I am leading a campaign to change the Vikings Kickoff song to the “Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin. I think it is time for a change, and this song is very appropriate. The “Immigrant Song” is very intense and powerful, and more importantly, it is sung about the Vikings. I think that it would greatly improve the atmosphere in the Metrodome and the future Northern Lights Stadium by everyone joining in the battle cry together.

I am presenting you with a work of art inspired by the “Immigrant Song.” It is titled, “Voyage of the Norsemen.” Also, if you press and hold the red button located on the image for two seconds, the “Immigrant Song” will play. In addition to the artwork, I have designed a website to promote the idea of changing the kickoff song to the “Immigrant Song.” The website is VikingsKickoff.com. There, you will see the painting being created, a short video documentary about this campaign, and a petition calling upon this change of kickoff song.

Another important part of the website is the ability to download the artwork that was created. Vikings fans are able to download this work of art. With each download, I am asking that a donation be made to the Vikings Children's Fund. The goal of this campaign is to raise $50,000. It is my hope that we meet and exceed this goal.

As you can see, I have placed quite a bit of thought and hard work into this idea. I hope that you will take time and consider changing the kickoff song to the “Immigrant Song.”
